But Not For Me

Old Man Sunshine - Listen, you!
Never tell me dreams come true!
Just try it -
And I'll start a riot.
Beatrice Fairfax - don't you dare
Ever tell me she will care;
I'm certain
It's the Final Curtain.

They're writing songs of love,
But not for me;
A lucky star's above,
But not for me.
With love to lead the way,
I've found more skies of gray
Than any Russian play could guarantee.

I was a fool to fall
And get that way;
Heigh ho! Alas! And lackaday!
Although I can't dismiss
The memory of her kiss
I guess she's not for me.

(Screw the kiss I never got one anyway.)

Maybe it's someone from college. Maybe it's someone from the orchestra. Maybe it's someone from my hometown. Maybe it's someone who was from my hometown. Maybe it's all just one big metaphor for something else. Go ahead and jump to your own conclusions.

By the way the song is really good you might want to listen to the Idea of North's version.
