Moral Studies
And I thought I saw the last of Moral Education when I left secondary school. Who would have known it's college equivalent is just as stupid, mediocre and pointless? To prevent widespread boredom I shall not go into further detail.
It doesn't help that the time taken to prepare for 4 pointless essays for tomorrow's assessment could be spent on more useful courses (Acoustics comes to mind).
And why are we studying Moral again? Because it's a bloody LAN subject (ie compulsory thanks to our government deciding to force it upon us). So we have two compulsory LAN subjects here in ICOM; Moral Studies and Malaysian Studies. If I was an international student I would understand why I would be taking those courses, maybe even enjoying them because I would learn more about the country I'm studying in. However, as a local student I spent 5 years in secondary school slogging away at Sejarah (History) and Pendidikan Moral, rejoicing when SPM (our version of O-levels) ended, only to discover that the government is FORCING me to learn the same things ALL OVER AGAIN in college. Even if I am politically illiterate, ignorant of the buntings and massive BN posters around KL and only read the comics section of newspapers, the fact that I am obliged to take Moral Studies once again is enough to make me vote for the Opposition.
But then again, considering that our Education Minister is some crazy, narrow-minded, ignorant keris-waving joker, maybe our education policy shouldn't come as such a surprise.
