A (very delayed) Christmas Summary

Finally have been able to post another entry after a very jam-packed, busy Christmas. Originally intended to update the blog straight after Christmas, but put it off until, guess what - "Quake shakes up the Net!" screamed The Star Online; "World Wide Wait" proclaimed The Star Offline, 28 Dec 2006. Well, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one affected, thanks to this. Heheh, access throttled indeed. It just got me thinking however, although all the bloggers are complaining about not being able to update their blogs, even if they could no one else would be able to go online to read them.

I'll try go through the past week as quickly as possible before I lose my connection. What I did for Christmas (+/- a few days before and after):

1. 1 week before
Braved the infamous India Street jam to get ingredients for Christmas cookie baking. Was busy baking all the way till the 25th so had no time for updates. I was going to upload some pics but thanks to the Taiwan earthquake that will have to wait. Found out that cookie selling is a very profitable business!

2. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day
Sold out all the cookies. I can't remember which day it was, but the sermon that day contained a very accurate analogy about the general feel of Christmas nowadays - "the Taj Mahal was built as a memorial for the Shah's dead wife whom he loved very dearly. Unfortunately, as the construction went on he was so focused on the aesthetics and architecture of the building that he completely forgot his original plan to commemorate his wife's death." This practically sums up the general worldly feeling towards Christmas - we have trees, presents, parties etc etc but are we sidelining the One who made all this possible for us?

3. After Christmas
Went to the Jungle Bells thingy at the amphitheatre. Abner, Mac, Nat and a few others came along. There was a huge air-filled slide about 3 storeys high meant for kids but we went in anyway. After being politely chased out, we tried out the Flying Fox which unfortunately was too low and too short. For all the hype though it was a bit disappointing. We then had a mahjong session at Abner's place (no we did not gamble, seriously!).

All in all it was a very eventful year to say the least and Christmas was really just the icing on the cake. Am having a bout of blogger's block so might not be posting any deep, thoughtful stuff in the coming weeks though. Here's to a blessed 2007!
